Hello there! I’m Jordan Semder, an enthusiastic interior designer and proud mom of two amazing kids. As I prepare to share my thoughts, inspirations, and journeys in this blog, I want to give you a glimpse into who I am and what fuels my passion for design. My goal is to bring you along as I explore this exciting journey, filled with creativity and personal stories.

Having graduated from the University of Louisville, my love for creativity sparked early. I was also a Lady Bird at Louisville which lead me to Nashville where I was a Tennessee Titian Cheerleader. All of this taught me the importance of teamwork and infused a sense of style into my life.

My Journey into Interior Design

Growing up, I took great joy in rearranging furniture and experimenting with colors in my room. Watching how a simple change could transform a space fascinated me. This early interest blossomed into a full-fledged passion.

Transitioning from student to professional interior designer was both thrilling and daunting. My first project involved helping my new and growing family renovate our home. I created a cozy nook where we could spend time together. Each project invigorates me with that same excitement, reminding me of why I love what I do.

Balancing Family and Career

As a mom of two, balancing family life with a career in interior design can feel like juggling flaming torches. My kids are my biggest supporters and provide endless inspiration. They remind me daily about the importance of creating a functional and lively home where we can make lasting memories together.

My journey as a parent has influenced my design philosophy, leading me to focus on spaces that are both beautiful and practical. For example, I design kitchens that not only look stunning but also create an inviting environment for family gatherings and cooking sessions. I aim to create homes that adapt as families grow and evolve, ensuring that every room remains functional over time.

My Time as an Athlete

Being a Louisville Lady Bird and cheering for the Tennessee Titans was one of my life's most exhilarating experiences. As a professional athlete, I learned the value of discipline, energy, and a positive attitude. The camaraderie with my teammates taught me about collaboration, which I carry into my design projects.

This spirited history influences my design choices. I often incorporate vibrant colors and playful patterns, reflecting the energy and enthusiasm I felt on the sidelines. For instance, in a recent project, I designed a cheerful playroom with colorful bean bags and wall murals that stimulate creativity and joy for the kids.

Inspirations and Design Aesthetic

In terms of design, I draw inspiration from nature, architecture, art, and personal experiences. I love mixing modern elements with vintage charm, creating spaces that tell unique stories. For example, I recently combined sleek furniture with antique lighting fixtures in a client's living room, resulting in a warm yet contemporary vibe.

I admire minimalism but strive to balance open spaces with personalized décor. I believe every design should reflect the lives of those who inhabit it. For me, ensuring families feel safe and comfortable in their homes is at the core of my philosophy.
